Help test SharpShooter Gold.

Get surveys, slides and the well view on your phone. Follow these three steps on your Android phone to join the test and install the app.

Use the same Google account for every step. Join the group with the account you use in the Play Store on your phone.

  1. Join the tester group

    Open the group, sign in to Google, then choose Join group. This gives your Google account access to the test.

  2. Become a tester

    Open the Google Play test page and choose Become a tester. If it says You are a tester, you are in - go to step 3.

  3. Install the app

    The button opens the Google Play test page. When it says You are a tester, tap download it on Google Play, then Install. If it shows Become a tester, tap that first.

    3. Get it on Google Play ↗ Google Play says “Item not found”? The Google account in your Play Store app is not a tester yet. Tap the round picture at the top right of the Play Store to see which account it is, do steps 1 and 2 with that account, wait 15 minutes, then try again. In a hurry? Download the app file below. Updates arrive through Google Play.

No Google Play? Download the app file

For a phone without a Google account, or if Google Play will not install it: tell us who you are and the app file (APK) downloads straight away. Open it and tap Install; if Android asks, allow your browser to install apps.

A copy installed from the file does not update through Google Play. To move to the Google Play copy later, uninstall this one first.

Having trouble?

Google Play says “not available” or “not found”

The app is only shown to testers, so open it with the step 3 button, not by searching the Play Store. Check the account picture in Google Groups, the test page and the Play Store - all three must be the same Google account. If you just joined, give Google a few minutes, then open the test page again. Still stuck? Download the app file instead.

Google says “You don’t have permission to access this content”

That is only the group’s message list - it is private, even for members. If you tapped Join group, you are in: go straight to step 2. If you are not sure, open the group page again - it shows Leave group (or “you are a member”) once you have joined. Still nothing after a few minutes? Your join may be waiting for approval - email SSDrillingtech@gmail.com and we let you in.

I cannot see “Join group”

Sign in to Google on the group page first. If you already belong to the group, move to step 2. Some company Google accounts restrict outside groups; a personal Google account may work instead.

You can also request to join by sending an email from the same Google account to sharpshootergold-testers+subscribe@googlegroups.com, then follow Google’s reply.

I have an iPhone

This test is for the Android app. Email us if you would like to hear about future iPhone availability.

How do I leave the test?

Open the Google Play test page in step 2 and choose Leave the program. You can also leave the Google Group from its membership page.
